Dr Phylis Makurunje - Researcher - Nuclear Fuels for Space, Nuclear Futures Institute, Bangor University

Dr Phylis Makurunje is a research lecturer at Bangor University’s Nuclear Futures Institute where she focuses on fuel development for net-zero energy solutions and outer space missions. With a background in materials and process engineering, she merges R&D with industrial experience in manufacturing. Phylis is currently on the Space Traffic Management Committee of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and participates on the World Science Forum. She is an alumna “Future Leader” of the UK Foundation for Science and Technology where she engaged with senior policy figures on key science and technology issues. Prior, she served two terms as an Executive Secretary of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in support of United Nations space programs.
