Matt Patching - Principal Engineer - Manufacturing Automation and Digitalisation, WMG
Matt Patching is a Principal Engineer working in the Automation Systems Group of WMG at the University of Warwick. A mechanical engineer with a B.Eng (Hons) and M.Sc from Loughborough University, his work in industry has justified his registration as a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE since 2016. Over the last ten years he has gained broad experience in automation challenges, particularly in the automotive and aerospace industries with a focus on scale up of electrification technologies. He has delivered production solutions from pilot line scale to full industrial scale facilities. Outside of Collaborative R&D projects with industrial partners, Matt engages across the HVM Catapult network on the topics of Digital Manufacturing and Automation. His current work applies Industry 4.0 principles and technologies to enable cyber-physical systems that accelerate manufacturing insights, increase productivity, and improve sustainability.
