Andrew Steele - Olympian, Health Tech Entrepreneur & CEO, Stride Health Group
Andrew Steele is a retired Olympic athlete and a digital health tech entrepreneur.
During his sport career, Andrew was one of the most experienced athletes on Team GB, being part of national teams at European, Commonwealth, World and Olympic level.
In an unusual turn of events, nine years after competing at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Andrew was awarded an Olympic medal for the 4x400m relay when the team from Russia were retrospectively disqualified for a back-dated doping failure – so Andrew became an Olympic medallist and received his medal in 2017, after he had retired from the sport.
As Andrew’s competitive career came to a close, he co-founded personal genomics company DNAfit, building the world’s first DNA test looking at how a user’s genetic profile affects their exercise, nutrition, stress and sleep response.
DNAfit went on to be acquired by the Prenetics group in 2018, and over the following 5 years Andrew helped grow the Prenetics EMEA business from a startup to a team of over 700, culminating in listing the company on the Nasdaq at >$1bn valuation in 2022.
Andrew now works as a health and sports technology consultant and is the founder and CEO of a new digital health business, Stride.
