Louise Pennell - Associate Dean of Partnerships and Business Development, Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science at the University of South Wales (USW)

Louise Pennell is Associate Dean of Partnerships and Business Development in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science at the University of South Wales (USW).

After working for many years in industrial manufacturing, Louise joined USW and in due course became the Head of School of Engineering.  Louise leads on Welsh Degree Apprenticeships in STEM for USW and, more recently, established the Compound Semiconductor Educational Group (CSEG), bringing together industry, FE and HE in the South Wales region.

Her experience in academia has involved her leading on the development of the teaching and student experience across all the STEM disciplines and also undertaking roles as an External Examiner at Bangor University, and External Adviser to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Louise’s industry experience was obtained from high volume manufacturing and testing of electronic products, operating as a Quality Assurance & Product Reliability Manager, and Technical Product Coordinator, prior to moving into higher education.
