Joanna is a Lecturer in Business Economics at the University of Bath and a member of the Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour (IDSB). She is an economist with a particular research interest in economic analysis of digital security, quantifying private and external costs and benefits, and the application of behavioural and experimental economics to the understanding of agents’ valuations and decision-making.
Two projects she’s been involved with most recently are the EPSRC funded Cyber Statecraft in an Era of Systemic Competition looking at the role of cyber statecraft in the competitive reshaping of international order and Threats and Trade Offs, developed to help understand the ways people learn and think about cyber security to inform training and interventions. The board game, and recently released digital version, was developed as part of Discribe, a £3.5 million research collaboration between the Universities of Bath, Bristol and Cardiff, and Royal Holloway, University of London, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
