Josh Haskell - Manager, Mechanical Engineering, EMEA, Vantage
I’m a 35-year-old father of 3, based in South Wales. My role within Vantage Data Centres is Manager of Mechanical Engineering within the EMEA region. This involves overseeing our mechanical design team for all EMEA-based projects, and helping to lead design innovations for new technologies, as well as helping all VDC projects be delivered from concept right through to RFS problem-free.
I graduated in Building Services Engineering in 2013. I began my career as a Mechanical Engineer designing schools, hospitals, office blocks, and museums, amongst others. I entered the Data Centre industry in 2018 and haven’t looked back. Initially, I worked on smaller retrofits and end-of-life replacements before working my way up to new data halls and eventually brand new data centre buildings and campuses. My work has taken me all over Western Europe, a part of my job that I enjoy considerably.
The recent AI boom has altered the way I work dramatically. All our previous designs for cloud-based enterprises are now being completely revamped with different technologies to meet the cooling demands of much higher-density racks and IT power. It is a challenge that my colleagues and I are relishing.
I hold a Master’s degree in Building Services Engineering and Management (MSc), and I’m a Chartered Engineer with CIBSE.
