Elliot Thornton

Elliot Thornton is the Space Resilience Manager at the UK Space Agency, where he leads efforts within the Space Security and Resilience team to safeguard the UK’s civil space sector against a broad spectrum of risks. His work involves strategic coordination across government departments and active engagement with industry to address threats both to and from space systems.

These threats include spectrum interference, space weather, cybersecurity, vulnerabilities in critical national infrastructure (CNI), and national security concerns—all of which are mapped to the UK’s National Risk Register.

Elliot brings deep technical and operational insight to the role, shaped by a career in Electronic Warfare (EW) and communications. He has delivered EW training internationally for BAE Systems, drawing on experience across both strategic and tactical domains.

With a strong focus on emerging technologies and their implications for defence and space resilience, Elliot plays a central role in shaping the UK’s approach to securing its space assets in an increasingly complex global environment.
