What is Talent4Tech?

Brought to you by Technology Connected and Wales Tech Week, and funded by the UK Government, Talent4Tech is exclusively an in-person event, attracting the “Tech Curious” of Year 9 and beyond, school graduates, apprentices, college leavers, career changers, graduates, returners, and transitioning professionals to explore the thriving tech landscape in Wales. This event is a gateway to discovering the connections, opportunities, and knowledge needed to plan, initiate, and excel in a tech career right here in Wales.

When and where will the event take place?    

Talent4Tech will take place on the 18 October 2023 in the ICC Wales, opening to attendees at 8:45am and closing at 3.45pm.

Who will be exhibiting?

There will be a diverse array of organisations exhibiting, which can be viewed on the Exhibitors page.

Who should attend the event?

Talent4Tech is open to anyone interested in a career in tech, looking to network with employers or who want to explore options available to them.

How do I register for Talent4Tech?

Talent4Tech is free to attend. Registration details are available here.

How do I get to the event?

Buses:

There is a drop-off zone for coaches directly outside of the ICC Wales, which will be managed by ICC Wales staff. Should coaches wish to remain, they will be directed to parking spaces, where there is ample parking available.

Shuttle Service:

There will be a regular bus shuttle between Newport Station and the ICC in the morning and afternoon. If you plan to use this option, please wait in good time as during peak periods you may have to wait for the next shuttle depending on demand.

07:30 – 10:00 Shuttle from Newport Train station to ICC

15:45 – 17:30 Shuttle from ICC to Newport Train station

Parking:

Onsite parking is available beneath the ICC (with a standard vehicle clearance of 2m) at £24 per 24 hours. Additional parking can be found at Celtic Manor Resort, with charges at £5 per 24 hours for the outdoor car park and £15 per 24 hours for the underground car park. Other tariffs are available on the venue’s website here.

Please consider potential M4 congestion during peak hours in your journey planning.

Directions by road:

From the East or West: Exit M4 at Junction 24, follow B4237 towards Newport.

From the North: Take M5 to M4 Westbound, exit M4 at Junction 24, follow B4237.

From the North (alternative route): Take M5, exit at Junction 8 onto M50 Southbound, follow A40 to Monmouth (A449), then follow B4237.

Will photos and videos be taken at the event?

Our team will be capturing photos and videos during the event. Ensure any members of your group are aware of this, and make sure they notify us if they would prefer not to be photographed.

How do we expect attendees to behave?

We kindly request that all attendees conduct themselves respectfully and responsibly during the event, showing consideration for other attendees, exhibitors, and the venue.


Tickets & Registration

I haven’t received confirmation of my ticket. Have you received my registration?

We have received your registration as long as you saw the ‘Registration Complete’ page. If you did not see this page, please register here.

Ticket confirmations are automatic and therefore may have been blocked by your spam filter or email provider. Academic and GOV.UK emails are particularly affected by this. We are working on a solution with our ticketing provider.

Your ticket(s) will also be attached to automatic reminder emails.

If you do not receive a copy of your ticket after registering, you will be able to check-in using your name or email instead of the QR code.

Due to volume, we are unable to email you your tickets individually.

I don’t know who is coming with my group, how can I register?

You can register your group under your name. During the checkout process, after you have filled in your details, simply tick the option to ‘Use this attendee’s information for all tickets below’:


Venue & Onsite

Will there be free WiFi available at the venue?

Yes, there will be free WiFi throughout the ICC Wales venue. The login details will be clearly posted throughout the venue and will be available from the info desk. Should you have any issues connecting on the day, please go to the main reception of the ICC.

Will there be charging stations for electronic devices?

Yes, the venue has this onsite.

Will there be food and drink available?

We are delighted to offer a free-of-charge sandwich ‘Grab Bag’ for attendees of Talent4Tech. Vouchers will be given out on a first come, first-served basis, which can be redeemed throughout the day. 

Is there a suitable meet-up spot for my group?

The ‘Challenge Camp’ located inside the Main Hall of the ICC is a suitable meet-up spot for teachers and students.

What are the instructions in case of an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency, follow instructions provided by the venue and event staff and refer to posted emergency exit plans.

Sustainability

What steps is Talent4Tech taking to be sustainable?

Talent4Tech is committed to promoting sustainability and minimising its environmental impact. The event has implemented a range of initiatives to achieve this goal.

What about sustainable transportation options?

Talent4Tech encourages attendees to use sustainable transportation options, such as public transit, cycling, or walking, to reach the event venues. Talent4Tech is also providing green buses to and from the train station. Maps and information about transportation alternatives will be provided on the event’s website and mobile app.

Are sustainable materials used in event production?

Yes, the event strives to use sustainable materials whenever possible. Event signage, banners, and promotional materials are often produced using eco-friendly or recyclable materials, and printing is kept to a minimum. Digital communication is favoured over paper-based materials to reduce waste.

Can attendees participate in sustainability efforts?

Absolutely, attendees can actively contribute to the event’s sustainability efforts. This includes using designated recycling bins, and opting for sustainable transportation options.


Accessibility and Inclusion

Is the event venue accessible for people with mobility disabilities?

Talent4Tech is designed to be accessible for all attendees. Please inform us in advance if any of your group members have specific requirements, so we can make necessary arrangements.

There is flat floor access to the main entrance of the ICC, which is predominantly on one level, and removable seats for disabled guests within the event hall. There are lifts to upper floors. The ICC Wales also provides a Changing Places facility, which is detailed here.
