Susan Oliver - Counsellor, Defence, Security, Cyber, Space & Civil Aerospace for the Department for Business & Trade, British Embassy Tokyo
Susan is currently seconded to the Department for Business & Trade from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Before her current posting to Tokyo she undertook a wide range of roles in the UK MOD covering economic security, defence engagement and military operations. Susan spent over twenty years in the Royal Air Force. She served in multiple roles as an air traffic controller and operations officer. Her military service took her all over the UK and Germany, and to the Falkland Islands. Other roles in the UK MOD have included major defence programme approvals and international military capability cooperation with North America and Asia Pacific region. Susan has a son – currently serving in the British Army – and when not in Tokyo, her home is the Scottish Highlands.
